Microsoft Windows Media

Microsoft is pursuing the streaming media business aggressively.  On this CD you will find both encoder and player for Windows Media 9, the latest version, as well as some sample content.  The Windows Media website has many other tools available (all free for personal use at time of writing), and a wealth of information about streaming media in general and the Microsoft implementations in particular.

There are three sample sequences on the CD; Pinball, Race Cars, and Snowboard, all at a high-definition resolution of 1280x720 pixels.  These are not the best material available from Microsoft, but are the only sequences that do not have restrictions on redistribution.  If you have a reasonable Internet connection, I strongly suggest that you visit the Windows Media site and download some of the more interesting examples that are available there.
