Abstract
We produce a new cold plasma environment model for the Jovian magnetosphere using the Galileo PLS dataset.
Although there exist many sophisticated radiation models (energetic plasmas), only a few models has been utilized for cold plasma environment (< a few tens keV).
The existing environment was extended toward the probability domain so that we can predict, not only the average state of the cold plasma, but also extreme cases of the Jovian environment.
The input parameters of the model by users are the position of the spacecraft (distance, magnetic longitude and latitude) and the specific percentile in order to specify the harshness (e.g. 0.5 for the mean model).
The new empirically derived environment model can be used for assessing the JUICE mission profile; covering the Europa orbit to 40 Rj (Rj is Jupiter equatorial radius).
