This seminar will be an introduction to the field of high power radio wave experiments on enhanced optical emissions. With these active experiments it is possible to enhance ionospheric electron temperatures and optical emissions when transmitting about 100 MW HF radio waves into the ionosphere. This seminar
will review a theoretical model and our multi-instrument observations with ALIS and EISCAT.
