Mesospheric echoes at polar and low-latitudes: comparison of spectral characteristics and strength. Experiment and theory.
I will talk about mesospheric echoes measured with our atmospheric radar ESRAD from Esrange, the EISCAT VHF radar from Tromso and the Indian atmospheric radar from Gadanki. I address the following questions: What are similarities and differences in polar and tropical echo characteristics? What can we learn from them about the generation mechanism? Experimental spectral widths of these echoes will be compared to those modeled on the basis of turbulent and incoherent scatter theories.
