This seminar is a short summary of the methods used and developed in my PhD thesis, "Optical studies of polar stratospheric clouds and related phenomena". The principles of zenith-sky scattering and the use of bistatic imaging will be discussed and a few of the results discussed. It is shown that PSC presence can be detected, but probably underestimated, with zenith-looking photometers. A case study of PSCs by bistatic imaging shows changes on very short temporal and spatial scales. ERROR: Success
