Micro Pore Optics, SU-8 Micro-Machining & Graphene foils in Time-Of-Flight instruments

Abstract
In Time-Of-Flight instruments with conventional flat (2D) start surfaces the error in the distance of flight can be usually tolerated.
In more compact instruments this error starts to limit the mass resolution. New types of start surfaces with window-blind like structures try to push this limit with a higher accuracy in the distance of flight. Experiments show that such 3D start surfaces are working well and can replace 2D flat surfaces. Experimental results are presented and compared to previous works.
Additionally a literature survey is given to shed light on other ideas and possible candidates to be investigated further, namely SU-8 based micro structures and Graphene foils.
