Our current understanding of the lunar plasma environment

The Moon does not possess intrinsic magnetic field or thick atmosphere, but non-negligible parts of its surface are strongly magnetized. These features give rise to characteristic interaction with the solar wind plasma in a wide range of physical scales. Recent direct observations in orbit around the Moon by several spacecraft including Kaguya, Chandrayaan-1, and Artemis have brought us a lot of new information on the plasma and electromagnetic environment of the Moon. In this presentation, I will review recent observational results of the solar wind - Moon interaction, predominantly based on Kaguya data analysis.
