Design and implementation of front-end electronics for an ion beam profiling system

The work described shows a reliable device for profiling an ion beam in
the intensity cross section. A sensorhead consisting of a Faraday cup in
combination with a Channel Electron Multiplier was constructed and build
together with electronics including power supply, transmission path and signal conditioning. The methods were chosen upon financial and long term life aspects. Testing, first calibrating and error analysis are done within the ion beam facilities where it is supposed to be installed permanently. It showed the first profile of this ion beam with accuracy down to the femto-ampere range.
